Ferdinand Porsche started with the production of Porsches in 1949 in his Austrian factory in Gemünd. The first cars were manually produced and used a lot of Volkswagen spare parts. After a couple of years the production was moved to Stuttgart in Germany. The design of this Porsche 356A was the basis for the very successful Porsche 911 series. Porsche 356A is powered by a 4 cylinder engine of 1.000 - 1.600 cc. Top speed 180 kph (1102 mph).
