| 60th Anniversary Models |
|
John Nijhuis 25 March I did receive last week Batch B of the New Superfast 2013 60th Anniversary line. It's nice to find out that after being 60 years in business, this shipment was the worst I ever got from Mattel. If they want to prove that the Marketing people are absolutely useless in their 60th Anniversay (by the way should be 62) Year then they have been proving this very succesfully. I got 3 boxes of wave B. Apparently the Routemaster bus should have been part of this wave but was not finished in time? So this shipment did not have six but five new models. No problem for Mattel. Just put an old one of the Wave A in the box............. The biggest surprise however is that wave B box has also the 6 models of wave A, indeed plus one to make up for the missing bus, and 5 new models. And then Mattel is wondering why dealers, which just sold their first six models and order wave B, are very reluctant to sell their product!!! However the second shipment of wave B did have to my big surprise the so called hard to find treasure hunt in it! So if you buy a box of wave B you apparently get either a treasure Hunt Bus or and extra model of the first wave. You're still with me????? By the way I already told Mattel before that finding a Matchbox Model in some countries is such a rarety that almost any model nowaday is a Treasure Hunt. As usual the design and packaging are great. This makes it even sadder, the way they think with Mattel on how they can approach the market. Who's ever going to stop this? |

| In addition to the 1-120 miniature line, there will be a 60th Anniversary Line. This line will have
existing tooling but
will have a combination of Classic and Modern vehicles. This line will have exclusive decos and will come in a Lesney style premium packaging. The models will be sealed in individual blister packs. A picture box will also be included inside the blister pack. The blister card will say Collect all 24. Will collectors from around the world (?) will be able to purchase these models locally? So answer to Mattel is:'Yes we love to collect them' ......but I hope that somewhere on the packaging it also says Distributed outside California. There will be a total of 25 models (24 + 1) in this series. The 25th model will be a chase model. Currently, Routemaster Bus is meant to be the Chase model. This bus will also be part of the 24 regular models. The chase model will be released in limited quantities. Although the quantities were not discussed, there's a believe that there will be enough for everyone as the models will be released in all parts of the world. Looking at the availability in Western Europe and Eastern Europe (except the UK) Mattel doesn't realize apparently that at the moment each model is a chase car for most of us. |
