Since its inception in 1998, the Club's Charity Chest has been supplied with many thousands of models by Club members and has donated 11,449 of them to children facing perilous circumstances in the USA and abroad in India, Iraq, Israel and Palestine. Many thanks to Matchbox collectors and Mattel who donated models or cash.

For the 2009 Christmas season, 384 models were given to needy children from the
Club's Charity Chest to seven different organizations for distribution to needy children.
Models were given to Hartford Hospital, Connecticut Children's Medical Center,
Toys for Tots, Sisters of Assisi Food Pantry,
Willimantic (CT) Police Department, Salvation Army, Willimantic (CT) Fire Department.

Now that the Christmas giving has been completed, attention will be turned to
canvassing from collectors empty eggs in preparation for the Easter season.
There are plenty of loose models in inventory to be loaded into the empty eggs.
Please send any empty eggs you have from previous years to:

Mr. Yanouzas
Patty Veronneau delivered another huge box of Matchbox cars donated by your organization. I cannot tell you how helpful and useful these are to us in the Patient Relations Department. As you can imagine often times we encounter children who have been brought to he hospital with parents to visit patients or are waiting for appointments etc. and they forget to bring toys, games etc. to occupy the children for what can seem like endless waits for them. The Matchbox toys are "just what
the doctor ordered" to help the children and their parents. It is fun to watch these children get so excited when they are offered the chance to pick a toy or two to play with, I know we have "rescued" more than one parent by providing the children with your generous gifts.

Thank you very much.
