IT’S BACK!

The Australian Diecast Collectors Convention is on again!

Same venue: The Pacific International Suites, Parramatta (Under new Management and fresh from a refurbishment!)

Dates: Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th August 2008.

Come and join us and other diecast enthusiasts from all over Australia and the World for a fun filled 4 day convention. The basic structure of the Convention will remain the same as last time with new themes and of course a range of new limited edition models.

As a registered attendee of The Inaugural Australian Diecast Collectors Convention in 2006, you, your friends and family have a 4 week opportunity to purchase registration tickets before the remaining tickets are released.

Due to the venue size there will be restricted numbers as follows:

400 only Registered Attendees
150 only for Friday night dinner & trivia night
200 only for Saturday morning themed breakfast
135 only for Saturday night Celebrity Dinner

Included as part of the registration ticket there will again be the amazing Sponsors Goodie Bag, the option to purchase tickets to the meal events and the limited edition model cars.

Production runs of most of this years models have been reduced to make them even more collectable.

The Diecast Custom Model and Plastic Model Building competitions will be on again – bigger and better than before. The Charity Auction will return on Saturday. At this stage we have confirmation from 4 Celebrity drivers who are excited to attend this years event, and a list of volunteer staff is being compiled. The event will once again culminate in a Swapmeet spilling out of the hotel Ballroom into the main foyer on Sunday 17th August 2008.

We have had keen interest from Room Traders looking to return this year, as well as many new dealers looking to showcase their wares and satisfy your shopping needs. 8:30am to late each day – this years Room Trading will be a huge event!

Whilst it is not essential to stay at the Hotel during the convention, we have negotiated some attractive prices should you be interested in staying on site or Room Trading.

Once you have been allocated a Registration Number you will be entitled to the following special room rates:

Standard Suite (32.5 sqm) $105.00 per room per night
1 Bedroom Suite $140.00 per room per night
(no minimum number of nights for these rates)

This year the hotel will be charging $5 per day for parking.

  • All rooms come equipped with Kitchenette (Microwave, Fridge, Stove etc)
  • Room numbers will not be allocated until closer to the Convention dates but persons wishing to Room Trade will exclusively be given the lower floors of the hotel in order to keep all Traders within the same area, thus making it easier for public access
  • The Hotel has 5 lifts and with the exception of quiet periods these will be manned by Convention staff to help all guests and attendees locate Room Traders and other facilities.
  • All accommodation reservations and cancellations are subject to the terms and conditions issued by the hotel.
  • Other Hotel facilities include; Licenced Restaurant, Gymnasium, Pool, Heated Spa, 24 hour reception and Bar area (serving light meals). (Ask hotel staff for details about wireless internet connections)
  • Hotel is located within 2 minutes walk from Parramatta Train Station and Interstate Bus Depot.
  • Only 5 minutes walk to Parramatta Westfield Shopping Centre and Cinemas.

    ITINERARY

    THURSDAY 14th AUGUST 2008

    FROM 10am: Registration, Sales and Merchandise Rooms will Open

  • Collect your Convention Ticket, Information Pack and goodie bag at any time from the Registration Room – This will be a separate room to the Sales room this year.
  • Head to the Sales room for all your Convention Models
  • Some Room Traders may be open early but expect most to be open by 2pm until late.
  • Entries for the Model Competitions will be accepted from Midday.
  • View the items for the Charity Auction after 6pm.
  • Trivia Night Function
  • Treasure Hunt begins…

    FRIDAY 15th AUGUST 2008

    FROM 8:30am:

  • Room Trading all day till late
  • Registration, Sales and Merchandise Rooms Open
  • Model Competition room open and still accepting entries.
  • Treasure Hunt continues…

    7:00 - 9:30pm: SPECIAL FUNCTION #1 TRIVIA NIGHT

  • Included in ticket price is one limited release 1:43 model for Trivia night attendees only. Attendees will have the option to purchase more of these models during the course of the evening.
  • Once again there will be Johnny Lightning – White Lightning models exclusively available to attendees of this function.
  • Menu will be: a Spit Roast Carvery including Beef, Pork, cocktail potatoes, corn on the cob, salads & breads.
  • Standard Drinks will be included – House wines, Standard Beer, Soft drinks (incl juice & water), Tea & Coffee. All other Beverages must be paid for by individual attendees.
  • Trivia Competition with exciting prizes for the winning table.
  • Lucky door prizes.
  • This is a sit down function with ticket sales limited to 150 persons due to venue size.
  • Tickets MUST be pre-purchased and will only be offered to registered convention ticket holders.

    SATURDAY 16th AUGUST 2008

    FROM 9:30am:

  • Room Trading all day till late
  • Registration, Sales and Merchandise Rooms Open
  • Model Competition room open – judging finalised.
  • Charity Auction at lunch time
  • Treasure Hunt Finalised.
  • Teddy Bear Breakfast & Celebrity Dinner Functions

    7am – 9:30am SPECIAL FUNCTION #2 TEDDY BEAR BREAKFAST

  • Included in ticket price is one limited release 1:43 Diecast model for Teddy Bear Breakfast attendees only. Once again these people will have the option to purchase additional models during the breakfast.
  • Once again there will be Johnny Lightning – White Lightning models exclusively available to attendees of this function.
  • The theme of the breakfast is ‘Teddy Bears’ so attendees must wear something in keeping with this theme. There will be bandaged bear items available for purchase for a small donation to the Childrens Hospital Westmead – Bandaged Bear Appeal.
  • This is a stand up function with tickets limited to 200 people.
  • Once again tickets must be pre-purchased and will only be offered to registered convention ticket holders.
  • Best outfit and lucky door prizes will be awarded.

    12:30pm – 2:30pm: CHARITY AUCTION IN AID OF THE MS SOCIETY

  • Open to Attendees and General Public
  • A full list of items will be distributed later.

    7:00 – 9:30pm SPECIAL FUNCTION #3 CELEBRITY DINNER

  • Included in ticket prices is one limited release 1:43 Diecast model for Dinner Attendees Only. Once again these people will have the option to purchase additional models during the dinner.
  • We are hoping to offer a special new model - “Shelby’s Gold” – more info later!
  • Set Menu 3 Course Dinner
  • Standard Beverages – House Wine, Standard Beer, Non alcoholic beverages, Tea and Coffee.
  • Guest Speakers
  • Drawing of winning entries for the Treasure Hunt and distribution of prizes.
  • This is a sit down function with ticket sales limited to 135 people due to venue size.
  • Once again tickets must be pre-purchased and will only be offered to registered convention attendees.
